Our new term begins this week! Join us for our first rehearsal on Thursday, 5 May at 7 p.m. Newcomers are welcome to come along to see if Belsize Community Choir is your new choir. And for returning members, the pieces we’ll be working on together are available in the Members’ Area.

We were delighted to be able to end 2021 singing! In December, we performed to raise money for Maggie’s, sang carols in the neighbourhood, and took part in St. Peter’s carol service. We also said a sad farewell to our friend and amazing music director of the past five years, Sheena Phillips. A huge thanks (sung in perfect harmony, of course) to Sheena and warm wishes for her new adventures in the US.
This week we’ll start the new year and the new term by welcoming Ezra Burke, who will lead us in new choral endeavours! If you’re interested in joining us, come along on Thursday, 20 January at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church on Belsize Square. All are welcome – there are no auditions. We continue to sing with masks and luckily there is ample space at St. Peter’s for social distancing!
We had a lovely time singing to – and with – our neighbours on Saturday! Thanks to Budgens, one of the choir’s sponsors, and thanks to the enthusiastic passers-by who stopped to share a few carols with us.
We’re looking forward to joining other singers and players for a festive holiday concert on Wednesday, 8 December at St. Peter’s Church, Belsize Park. Doors open at 6:30 pm – get your tickets here. Your purchase helps the Royal Free Maggie’s centre provide free cancer support to our community. We hope you can join us!
We’re thrilled to get back to singing together, in person, at St. Peter’s Church in Belsize Square this autumn. New members are welcome to join us on Thursday, 30 September from 7:00 p.m.
We’ll be singing with masks, with some social distancing, in the well-ventilated and welcoming space at St. Peter’s!

It’s early days yet, but we’re learning and practising songs about longer days, singing birds, country dances, and other joys of springtime. We’re looking forward to the days when we’ll meet to sing together in person. In the meantime, we’re still going strong on Zoom!
We’re taking the time at home to learn and practise new songs — from a traditional Yoruba song to a Coldplay hit, the Monteverdi Magnifcat to a Belsize Community Choir original composition to get us through these curious times. We’ve even tried our hand at making a recording ! Our new term starts tomorrow, 30 April, and newcomers are welcome to join in and give us a try.
We’ve been experimenting with weekly online rehearsals. The delay prevents us from singing rhythmically in unison – but we warm up, have singalongs with mics off, rehearse pieces from our current repertoire section by section, and – importantly, check in with each other, exchange news, and have a good laugh together.
